Cathay Investments Limited is a mid-cap UK privately-owned company founded in 2003. The original foundations of the company came from the owner’s background in dentistry in the late 1980s when he started his first dental corporate. Business grew through acquisition and was successfully sold in 2000 to a private equity buyer which became part of the largest UK dental corporate owned by The Carlyle Group at the time.

Apex Dental Care Limited was incorporated in 2007 with 4 dental practices forming the start of the second dental corporate in our history. By 2014 Apex had grown to 31 dental practices with acquisitions funded by a mix of bank debt and reinvested profits.

In the same year it was successfully sold to another private equity buyer and formed part of the second largest UK dental corporate at the time, owned by Bridgepoint. At the point of sale, Apex Dental Care had achieved an IRR of 44%.
